Obituary for James "Jimmy" Paquet

James “Jimmy” Paquet

Alder Point

It is with our deepest and heart – wrenching sorrow, that we the Paquet family, announce the death of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, James “Jimmy” Paquet, of Alder Point, Cape Breton.

He passed peacefully with his wife Joyce at his bedside at the Northside Community Guest Home in North Sydney, on Monday June 12, 2023.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Joyce (LeBlanc), his three devoted daughters Edie (Sid), Patty (Stewart), and Rhonda (Ese). He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Jamie Fraser, Stewart and Patricia McCann, and his special granddaughter whom he helped raise, Olivia Karigay. He was loved dearly by his three great grandchildren, Kayla and Angus Marsh, and Allistair Fraser.

Jimmy was an avid fisherman, second Mate on the Great Lakes Ships, and a well known and respected Iron Worker. He mastered the Violin at the age of fifty and learned to read music at the Gaelic College in St. Anne’s. Jimmy loved and cared for his family and others and loved a good house party in his day.

Special thanks to all the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home and the staff of Sydney Memorial Chapel for their guidance.

Go in peace Jimmy, Dad, Grampy, for our memories of you will live in our hearts forever. We will always love you!
